AMSPAR Intermediate Diploma in Medical Reception

This course is specifically designed for those working a medical reception environment. The course is aimed at those working in a primary care role, although a similar version is available for those working in secondary care.

The course content is as follows:
  • Health Community and Social Services
  • Medical Office Practice and Reception Skills
  • Medical Aspects of Reception Work
  • Medical Reception Work Experience – for those not working in a medical workplace

AMSPAR Medical Terminology Level 2

This course provides a background to general medical terms and their use in a clinical environment. The programme would be useful to those working or aspiring to work in a clinical or medical environment to assist their understanding of the terminology used in the work place. The programme is subject to studying a specified cross section of medical terminology defined by AMSPAR. Examinations are held each January and June.

AMSPAR Medical Terminology Level 3

This course is similar to Level 2 however the terminology is more detailed and a greater cross section of words is included in the programme. This programme would be useful to those requiring a more in depth understanding of medical terminology used in clinical and medical workplaces. Examinations are held three times a year and are set by AMSPAR.

AMSPAR Medical Secretarial programmes

These are at both Level 2 and and Level 3. The Level 2 programme is designed to fulfil the needs of those who are just beginning a career as a medical secretary or those who wish to enter this area of work. Level 3 programmes are at a higher level and designed for those who have been working in a medical secretarial role, areas of study include:

  • Administration and Legal Aspects relating to the National Health Service and Social Services
  • Business documentation for medical secretarial practice
  • Medical office practice
  • Medical aspects of secretarial work
  • Medical secretarial work experience (if not employed in a medical secretarial role)

AMSPAR Level 5 Diploma in Primary Care Management

This is a management qualification mapped to the National Occupational Standards in Management at Level 5. It is designed to fulfil the needs of those in a middle or senior management role in the primary care sector.

The award can be studied in full as set out below or can be studied in discreet units which can then be certificated.
